Yesterday, 29th June, Sister, cousins and their kawans along with me, decided to go for some panda admiring in the Zoo. So yeah, there was 9 of us.
Cousins fetched me and my sister form home at around 8.00am, then we went to get the boyfriend, and friend then headed to The Peak, Bangsar to get another 3. And off we headed to the zoo, Zoo Negara.
Zoo Negara is prolly the most legit Zoo you can find in Malaysia, since it is the National Zoo. First impression was crap, I guess they were kinda under construction, since Liang Liang, 亮亮 and Xing Xing 幸幸. whom were initially FengYi and FuWa, but Malaysia decided to rename them are in Malaysia. They are right now, the main attraction in Malaysia, since it is suppose to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Malaysia's relationship with China. (:
After so many years, prolly 16 years ago, I am back, to the National Zoo. Recently I've went to a few country's zoo, in particularly Pattaya, Thailand, which I remember oh-so-clearly, since I was just there few months ago. Hence I was pretty excited, wondering how Malaysia's National Zoo looks like.
We arrived pretty early, I'd say for people that is touring around the Zoo, the entry fees was RM30 and an additional RM20 for Panda sighting. Yeap, we have to pay an extra RM20 to see pandas that are shipped from China. We went in and was kind of lost, having no idea what to do till 10.20am which was the time we were to see the Giant Pandas. It was around 9.40, so we decided to walk to the exhibition hall, which is prolly 30 minutes walk, on the way we saw animals, well duhh, but they look miserable and sad.
It's like there was only 2 animals in my box along with a signboard telling us the origin of the animal and details. As we continue walking, we saw an amount of birds, that look like Flamingos but they aren't pink wandering around the Zoo freely. We saw emu, camels and typical zoo stuff. Also we saw tapir, which apparently many claim to look like the pandas, since they do too have black and white colors, but truth to be told, Malayan Tapir, you will lost hands down, you ain't fluffy or cute. Sorry guys.
As we approached the Panda Hall, it was a clearly a newly built building, air conditioned mainly to allow the pandas to be able to survive the weather. There was a speaker in the hall before we went in the viewing sight, however he was speaking in Malay, and my opinion, as a National Zoo, we would very much expect tourist from all countries to be visiting. Hence even if we are not able to find speakers that speak in all languages, but at least English, the universal language? This is very disappointing, also because in our group, there are two Caucasian girls, from the US.
We were then allowed to go view the pandas. Heads Up: ONLY 15 MINUTES VIEW TIME. Yeap, this was sad, to make full use of it, we snapped many photos, and watch cute pandas eat and sleep and poo and continue eating. HAHA, they are no doubt very cute. So panda eats like 30kg of bamboo shoots a day, and they don't hibernate because bamboo does not provide enough nutrition for extreme sleep. Pretty educational I'd say (:
From this experience I got to learn that in the whole world, the only place that Pandas exist is Si Chuan, China. And due to the baffling earthquake, and the increasing population of China having to cut down jungles, Giant Pandas are facing extinction. That is really sad though, honestly. They are such a cute bear that is practically the 'luxury life' as some might say. All they do is, eat bamboo, sleep, shit, wake up, eat sleep, shit, wake up. No joke guys.
After that, we went to see the typical animal shows that Zoo often provides. Malaysia, I'm sorry but it's real bad. We need better entertainment, that's for sure. However one of the nice interesting animals was Rhinos and White Tiger. They looked strong and healthy and honestly, phenomenal. After that we went to see the famous Orang Utan, and Chimps. And after a few more animals we headed to a shop, Pan Heong, a little after Batu Caves.
THEY HAS THE GOOD SHANGHA WA TAN HOR,
Serious, it was really good, looks good, tastes good. Well definitely good food requires a little sacrifices, we kinda waited for about 30 minutes for sitting and another for food arrival, but it was definitely worth it. It was good food, and after devided by 9, each person has to only pay RM31.22. Really worth it. (:
After that I headed home, bathe, and took a really long nap. Was asked to wake up and change to go for a family dinner celebrating my dad's early birthday. (: We went to this shop named Evo, Seksyen 17. Junction of Jaya One further down. According to my parents it was a really old shop already, initially it was called Castell but now, it's Evo. I ordered Spaghetti Aglio Olio, which was really good and worth it. However there was really little customers. The staffs there are friendly and really kind, we had 2 brownies on the house too.
That very much summed up yesterday. I did actually lived a little like those Pandas, eat sleep eat sleep. HAHAH.
It's Daddy's birthday! (:
